Here is some additional information that I hope you find useful.
Sex Addiction & Compulsive Behavior
“Sex Addiction” is growing at a staggering rate and is frequently in the news with stories about celebrities such as Tiger Woods, Jesse James and David Duchovny. Sexually compulsive behavior can be devastating to an individual, couple or family. My treatment approach is carefully tailored to the individual situation. My first priority is to help calm what is often a storm and the source of great pain. In our first session I provide tools to help my clients change behavior quickly in order to avoid further harm. My philosophy is sex positive, non-pathological and non-judgmental. My approach is to help individuals recognize the underlying cause of their sexual compulsions and deal with them accordingly. Whenever possible, therapy is conducted with the couple. The focus of couples counseling is to help both partners heal, explore unfulfilled needs, re-build trust, eliminate sexual secrets, increase intimacy, and enhance the relationship in a manner that will withstand the test of time. Some people reading this may already be in great emotional pain. No matter how bad you may feel, I find that most couples I see are able to deal with this incredibly painful situation re-build a better relationship and a greater sense of intimacy than ever before.
Couples Counseling
My educational background is in human sexuality while my clinical roots are in couples counseling. The benefit to my clients is that I understand sexuality on a very deep level while also knowing how to help couples work through complex communication and relationship issues.
75% of my work is with couples and the majority of that work is with people who have already seen at least two therapists. There is always hope! Many of my new clients are at their wits end when they first enter therapy. My goal is to provide couples with a process that that will ease the pain and help them get back on track as quickly as possible.
House Calls
I treat all of my clients like “VIP’s” however “House calls” are available for high profile individuals and couples seeking therapy that requires more discretion than even a private office can provide.
Crisis Situations
I do not provide emergency services however I do my best to accommodate people in crisis. I am generally booked out several weeks in advance. If you are in crisis please be clear about your needs and I will do the best I can to see you as soon as is humanly possible.
Affordable Therapy
I do not accept insurance however I do accept MasterCard and Visa. For those who are unable to afford therapy with a private practitioner, I am a faculty member at Denver Family Institute (DFI), the oldest Marriage & Family Therapy school in Colorado. Post-graduate interns are available at two clinic locations in Denver to provide counseling on a sliding scale that starts at only $15 per session.
